Form Teacher: Mrs.Koshy Samuel. Class Monitor,Jahabar Saddiq and the class Chairman, Shenton. There were intresting characters from this class. Iskandar Kaus, fastest school runner (slightly slower than a cheetah) Vijayan (who became SJI school captain in 1987) Ahmad Kamal (the ever smart cadet band member) Hamdan Hashim (skillfull breakdance crew of 1985) the ever cool gang of Tunku Shahar, Ipin, Saharudin Hon,Khalid,Mohd Buang and Azmi Jerman. Notable characters of David Lim (as loud as ever) Kenneth Hendrof,Jaldeen,Boon Wai and Adnan Zainy. The ever smiling Azwan Teh and Denny Kamal.

Ajak: Dah kenyang pekena cendol..jom ambik gambar!

Zaki: Jom,Jom..cepatlah !Ehh cendol tadi dah bayar ke belum!

Zafri: Woi, dua mangkuk cendol kongsi 8 orang woi, aku makan ciput je...Lobo yang telan semua, Lobo bayar. Eh, ketiak aku bau best tak? deodorant baru tau....

Last last cendol tak bayar. Lepas ambil gambar,semua cabut buat tak tahu je. Tahun ni 1982, sekolah petang woi! pakai seluar pendek lagi. Bila seluar pendek sangat, nampak macam pakai "hot pants" Nasib baik westpoint tak buat seluar pendek.

Bob Azrai: Kan bas ni bawak kau pergi main bola,main hoki. Tu lawatan ke Kuala Selangor dengan Mr.Goldman tu kan naik bas ni. Bas ni kan banyak berjasa bang!

Bas sekolah yang banyak berjasa. Ingat lagi lawatan ke Kuala Selangor dengan Mr.William Goldman (guru sejarah) Bila pulang ke KL ramai beli sotong mentah, ikan mentah, kerang, kepah,ketam dan plastik semua bocor. Satu bas bau hanyir makanan laut.

Form 3C and other Johannians85 gathered at Hew Wei Shek house at Jalan Maktab (behind FELDA HQ) What a blast! There were Praveen, Yusian,Jasjit,Azlan Razif,Wei Shek, Davendran,Weng Choon,TC Lai,Tian Pin,Ungku Zaki,Zulhairi and Suhaimi.

Teachers Day 1985 - 5sc3 and 5Sc4

TEACHERS DAY 1985

All of us gathered by the field and have a makan makan. With no shades and the boys carry wooden classroom desk to specific locations on the field, the ever busy monitor of 5Sc4 will have to perfectly organized the task. The above guys all "curi tulang" Pity Wan Wai Mun(class monitor 5Sc4), credit to him that we all have splendid food ala "pot luck".

The ever FAMOUS AIA WHITE WALL (another brick in the wall-PINK FLOYD1979). They took this photo just after school in 1983 after many mangkuks of cendol (unpaid cendol, i believe) they conned the mamak cendol - leadernya maybe in red or the blue sleeve guy hehehe..

Under 15 Footbal Team 1983 - CAYALAH !!!

DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH THESE GUYS! as fierce as they can be..(they are already in the mess) These Under 15 football team is full of characters. 5 Sc 4 1985

Only Allan Guy Goonting is ever ready for PE. The rest couldn't be bothered. We were at the entrance of the quatermasters waiting for Mr.Vincent Fernandez our PE teacher.Allan Guy, as ever, full of ardenalin,shirtless wanting to show off his abs (ada ka???) Such a tiny black shorts bro... to me it looks like a short skirt!

4 Sc 2 1984

1984 was a lepak year for many. Situation above is when the teacher is on medical leave ...hehehehe .Here Mazlan Tahir (CP) lepaks with Mohd Nadrin, Hashim Ismail and Wan Azlan. Mazlan,what were you doing here? Aren't you supposed to ensure the students are in order, sit properly getting ready for the next subject period?

THE WARRIORS of 3C 1983

1983 we had the interclass games between all classes. Such games i.e football,basketball and rugby were organized by teachers to ensure students came back to school after the exam period. Such a great idea and i don't think such activities is introduced today among the students.

3C has its football warriors (standing L-R), Davendran, Wan Ahmad Saifuddin, Hashim and the striker Mohd Rezal Zakaria. (mid L-R) Praveen, Speedy Iskandar Kaus (no one, I repeat NO ONE can beat Iskandar Kaus if he runs, Zuraffudin and Ungku Zaki (rambut Mat Korea brother) (front row L-R) Allan Guy Goonting, TC Lai, Adnan Zainy and Hamdan Hashim.

These guys collected their own money and bought the jersey. Look out for the biggest toilet in school.(left background) and next to it the gymnasium (SJI doesn't produce good gymnast). There were many stories of this toilet guys, from scarry tales to pimping toms. Johannians will tell you. (old christian cemetery is next to the toilet)

Do you remember the song Johannians85?
The photo above was taken in 1978 and the venue is the ever historical Stadium Merdeka. Only selected schools can have their school sports day at the historical site. What a proud moment guys! This is the site that hosted the MERDEKA DECLARATION by Tunku Abdul Rahman and the Malay Sultans back in 1957. (Hooked to youtube for more insights of the venue.)

Johannians85 above are marching during the opening of the sports day. Please take note that this is St.John's Primary school (2) Sports Day.The sports house is "Rumah Anthony" (ini bukan Anthonysamy or Mark Anthony tau!!!). The house color is blue. They paraded with "kaki ayam" (lari berganti ganti dalam guni), their school shoes (Bata, badminton master green and red) and the ever popular Fong Keong shoes. There were no spikes, no NIKEs, no ASICs but ada juga ADIDAS (figure out guys)
Trivia: Who at that time wears Adidas for sports meet and PE!
Clue: An ex Deputy Minister from the cabinet lead by a Johannian.
Those who got the right answer wil get to share the famous fisball dip at the school canteen. Remember to use your own toothpicks for the fishball but please share the same bowl of "kuah" .

1983 - Form 3 T

A Fellow Johannians85 sent us the following old photographs. It was indeed a reminiscence.

That year 1983, Form 3T, Class teacher: Mr.Louis Rodrigues. A fantastic hockey coach. His boys in 3T was a total sportguys, from Swee Keng, Ridzlan Jaafar, Leonis Aris and Jeeta to the ever cool bro of Fauzy, Ipin and Jefri. Not forgetting the the "rockers" of Sharul Nazron and Shahril Awang, the "professors" of Brian De Padua and Christopher Hon, the "budayawan" Azlan Abdul Jalil to the ever polite talkative Shenton Rowland and Subash Chandran. A great classmate of all - VIVA 3T - Johannians85.

I was a claude (sports house color) Sports practice was done either in the afternoon for the morning session (Johannians85) Some smart alex will tell their parents that they have sport practice in the afternoon, whereas they lepak at Simla, the Ming alley, the weld pool, snooker at Wilayah Complex or Pertama Complex.

Trivia: Who actually update the score board?

Answer: Quatermasters (ex quatermasters can verify this hehehe) I wonder if ever these brave and hardworking quatermasters ever trip and fell climbing the slope while updating the scoreboard.

The flamboyant softball team of under 15 St.John's Inst. Well the only way to get close to CBN CHICKS is to join the SJI softball team maaa! Credit to the team as these lads become the Wilayah champion of under 15. Well we all know...at that time no 100plus, no gatorade but just ROBERT'S salt with red syrup flavor....or.....CBN girls factor the key to success....siapa yang menang got to date and treat each other at joget teh....where else....kalau tak kat SAPPHIRE, or WHERE ELSE the joint at Hotel Malaya.
