Ucapan President Johannians 85
Reunion Dinner Pertama 1996
Kelab Darul Ehsan
Kuala Lumpur
...reacquaint with former brethen-in-arms...
We wanted being Johannians to mean something…
Warmest greetings to Johannians of 1985. It has been 11 years since we toiled in our classes, attempting to overcome the final hurdle in school life before thrusting ourselves into society. For many of us, it has also been 11 years since we had a decent conversation with each other. For the few who had left school before 1985 but are from our batch, it has been longer.
After attending the 195 St.John’s alumni dinner, a group of us voiced a yearning to have our own event. This desire to reacquaint with former brethren-in-arms led to the formation of volunteer (or volunteered) group to organize this event. Hence your presence tonight.
Why take trouble to make this dinner happen?
Why sacrifice time, money and effort away from work and love ones, and not on the golf course?
It was for the simple reason that if we did not do it, no one else would do it for us. And more importantly, we did it because we are Johannians.
We wanted being Johannians to mean something.
Where do we go from here?
The seed has been germinated. This list that you have purchased to help cover cost for the dinner is the seed. We are trying to put you in touch with each other. Contacts. Friends. Business partners. Who knows?
The committee is merely a catalyst.
Only you can make the difference. But first, YOU HAVE TO WANT IT.
Your volunteered President
