ALUMNI DINNER 2004

Tuan Pengerusi Majlis, saudara Jahabar Sadiq, tetamu teristimewa kita, cikgu cikgu kita, Mrs. Kang, Mr. Phua, Mr. Renney Chiang, Mr. Tee Kok Bin, En. Badiuzaman, Mr.Alex Chin, Mr.Vincent Fernandez, Mr. Yeo Kok Seng , senior senior kita dari SJAA Alumni dan terutamanya sahabat sahabat saya sekelian dari SJI85. Sekali lagi saya bagi pihak seluruh keluarga kerja atau committee SJI85 mengucapkan Selamat Datang ke majlis kami ini.

Alhamdulillah, setinggi tinggi kesyukuran di ucapkan kepada Allah SWT kerana dengan limpah kurnianya dapatlah kita bersama sama berkumpul pada petang ang berbahagia ini untuk merakam satu nostalgia 19 tahun meninggalkan St.John’s Institution. Cukup lama (Mr.Teo, I never pass my accounts but I finally graduate in finance).

Setinggi tinggi terimakasih kami kepada para guru guru kami yang telah berhempas pulas mendidik kami kerana sudi hadir pada petang ini. Juga terimakasih kepada para dermawan

Sebelum saya meneruskan dengan lebih lanjut, izinkan saya memperkenalkan anggota kerja SJI85. Mereka ini telah berusaha bersama saya menjayakan rancangan ini, they have done a splendid job. A big round of applause to them. Kami mula bergerak sejak 4 bulan lalu. It was not easy as the original database was obsolete, that we had to start all over again. Changing jobs and phone numbers makes it difficult for us to detect SJI85 students.

Our dear teachers, please allow me to deliver my speech in a more informal and relax manner. Our last dinner gathering was about 8 years ago in 1996 held at Kelab Darul Ehsan. We had a turn out of about 160-170 students. Then followed with Kongsi Raya gathering in 1997/98 at Kapitan Club Jala Ampang. Masa itu kebanyakan masih ada rambut dan slim but today we have progress again – rambut sudah kurang and expanded in size.
Look at our school footballer/state/national youth –Azaruddin and his size today.

Tonite dinner is to gather our batch of 85 for networking purpose.

Many of us agrees the need of the close ties relationship in business. As the saying goes, it is better to work with the devil you know rather than the devil you don’t know (Many of us were devils in school – Mrs.Kang could confirm that)

There is the need to support one another in business or even sharing of information and ideas.

We have lawyers, doctors, engineers, professionals, entrepreneurs, Government officers, Corporate business people and even Yang Berhormat to be in our circle of Johannians85. Lets work hand in hand .

Why Grand Maya…due to many background among us that we opted or Grand Maya…for a simple reason…Centre of Town..tailoring to our budget dan lebih lebih lagi tiada health club or Spa. We have understood that many among us who are health conscious people do visit this clubs occasionally. This hotel pun tak ada karaoke bar so no GRO’s guys.

Tapi I was understood menerusi edisi siasat SJI85, after this function, ada smaller group would adjourned o heir own secret joints. Please feel free to make arrangement with this people. Kalau tak jumpa juga group ini, come and see me, I will take you to Hazul, I understand he is also arranging for something big tonite.

Walaubagaimanapun, bukanlah satu perkara mudah bagi menhanjurkan majlis ini dengan keadaan dalam serba kekurangan especially dari segi kewangan. We need to fork out upfront cash for Hotel bookings and souveniers items. Itulah sebabnya our committee yang di pertanggungjawab bagi menjual tiket agak begitu agresif dan kadangkala terpaksa menjadi “along” untuk mengutip wang dengan segera. Dan tugas menjual dan mengutip wang ini di serahkan kepada mereka yang berbadan besar sahaja. Dan yang pastinya Johannians85 were very cooperative.

Kami juga merasa gembira kerana we also have today Johannians who left us after standar six and form three. Mereka mereka ini ke MCKK & RMC but tonite WE ARE ONE WHOLE FAMILY, JOHANNIANS CLASS OF 85.

Ada yang mengatakan St. John’s terlalu berat untuk melepaskan semua kami ke sekolah lain dan bukannya kami tidak layak, Cuma St.John’s menghantar a few representative sahaja ke sekolah sekolah ini to injet in smartness to these other schools. But! One thing for sure none left for VI after standard six or form three.



Dear Johannians85

This committee will be disband after the occasion and we will elect a new committee to continue the spirit of Fide Et Labore. (Dengan semangat demokrasi dan tiada politik wang ) Harapan kita semua, committee yang sedia ada is to at least organized a dinner next year again to commensurate of our 20 yrs leaving school followed by some other sports activities.

We may look big in size but we will take anybody in this sports, tak takut, thus we invite junior or SJAA for anyone for the sports event.

Akhir sekali, bagi pihak seluruh anggota kerja SJI85, kami memohon maaf jika terdapat sebarang kekurangan pada majlis ini. Semoga persahabatan kita bertambah erat dan padu.

To our beloved teachers “ YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST” we are nothing without you. Setiap calar bekas rotan, rambut rambut yang di potong tanpa restu kami amatlah kami hargai.

We were naughty those days but now we are proud to be JOHANNIANS.
